It's time to vote for your favorite experimental design site. I've just updated the HREF section of the site to include the top 20 design sites on the net. Now it's your turn to vote for who should be number one. Each day you may vote once for your favorite, and at the end of each month, we'll take the bottom 5 of the 20 and replace them with sites people have submitted (which appear below the Top 20). So, submit good design sites and Vote Now for your favorites!
PROJECTA9 Winter+11 January 2000
PROJECTA9 redesigns for winter. Ya gotta dig these colors cuz it just says "winter". Be sure to check out the Polaroids in "DEGREE" for a nice rural view of Vermont.

I'm currently working on some back end stuff for the HREF section. When I'm finished, there'll be a "Top 20 experimental sites", where you, the viewer, will be able to vote on which ones should be on top of the list. Every so often (probably monthly) the totals will be reset, and the the bottom 5 sites will be replaced with new entries taken from the list of user submitted sites. So if you want to give your site props, submit it. This will just be the first of many more interactive changes to vitaflo.

Australian INfront+6 January 2000
I got a nice email from Justin Fox about a new Austrailian site called Australian INfront (instead of outback, get it?). Looks like this site is gonna be a great source for Aussie design in the months to come, as it's dedicated to web design by the people "down under". National pride, gotta love it.

Are you down with the TPC? Test Pilot Collective just launched v2.0, which is, I must say, a very minimal design. I also must say this is a nice change of pace from all the overdesigned sites out there. You can also check out their Minneapolis submission over at the MyCity Project, representin' vitaflo's homeland.

Kiiroi Interim Edition+5 January 2000
Kiiroi has redesigned an interim edition to the now popular teamwork driven design site. Added to this teamwork atmosphere is vitaflo's very own subscription script, modified slightly to work with the Kiiroi site. Glad to see someone can actually read my code! :) The new Kiiroi site (the full version) is due mid-February.

Well, a new domain of mine is in the works, which right now is going to remain secret, though I will say the site will be a major project driven site. As I tailor vitaflo into a more news and open source web design site, more and more of my experimental efforts will be ported to the new site (which will be much more appropriate). This will probably be a lengthy process with all the coding involved. More details soon...

Everything that's old is new again.
Artistica #4+29 December 1999
eToys has said they won't press their suit againt etoy.com. This does not mean that the suit has been dropped however. Either way, it's a step in the right direction.

The most interresting quote from Mr. Cutler, Public Relations Manager at eToys: "Our intent was never to silence free artistic expression". Perhaps not, but you sure did a damn good job of it! (greedy bastards)

Artistica has released issue #4 for Dec/Jan, which among other things includes some experiments by this month's cover designer, Mike Young of Design Graphik.

The hardest part to doing web design has got to be looking at the same design you've done, day in, day out. I'm pretty bored of vitaflo thus far, and am ready for something new, even though v6 has only been out for two whole weeks. Which got me thinking...

I've got a few things in mind for what I should do with this site. That means cutting back in a few areas, and adding a few others. Making it more focused, and less "one size fits all". Whether or not that will actually happen is another thing, but one must push themselves to get where they want to be (or think they want to be) sometimes. Design on.
