Name: Matt Kohout (aka Phlappes)
Age: 21
Location: Sturgeon Bay, WI
What's the big deal? Phlappes is the man! I've known this kid since he was a wee little boy and have seen him grow up into a full fledged, well, wee little boy. He's basically a little kid trapped inside of a big kids body. Now I know you're asking, "so who the hell is this Phlappes guy and how did he get that rediculous name?" Ah, but your questions will be answered.
Phlappes was born Matthew Thomas Kohout. Back in the day when he was younger, he had the nickname Mapperdoodles. You know it's one of those kiddie names that your parents call you when you were little, like my parents calling me Brent. Well, as time went on Mapperdoodles just got too long to say, so it was changed to Maps. This was a pretty internal nickname, as about the only person that used it was his mother. Then his brother Rob stepped into the picture. One night when we were all together, somehow the word "flaps" came up, and I believe someone mistook that word for Maps. Well, that happened to stick (mainly cuz it was just a joke at the time). Of course we couldn't have his name be spelt simply, so we made it into Phlappes (with the accents above, really pronounced "Flah-pay", but always said like "Flaps"). And that's the story.
Phlappes also has many other names he goes by. Matthew, Matt, Matty, Mapperdoodles, Maps, Phlappes, and Santa. He is also the funniest guy I've ever met in my entire life. It's obvious he gets a lot of his prankster type sytle and ingenious one liners from his father. But his style is all his own and with sayings like "Trees will eat anything, trees are stupid", "Oh, you do mean yeah, cuz for a second there I thought you meant no", and "Did you know that rhythem is a dancer?", the fun never ends with this guy.
When he's not rippin it up old school with the jokes, he's usually hangin with the boys of Suite 310, or out partying it up. The guy loves stuff like Lego's, Voltron, Chris Farley (ask him to do his impression sometime), and he always has a good taste for music. For me to have known him for so long and not be bored or sick of him yet says a lot (any of you women out there listening?).
The man of the week...Phlappes.
